DT-8 How Far Can AI Understand Human Emotions?

How far is AI able to handle the true feelings that lie deep within people—such as desire, conflict, and inner tension?

As generative AI continues to evolve, there are growing opportunities to use AI to interpret and work with human emotions, from AI-powered data analysis to AI personas. At the same time, however, there still seems to be a significant gap between the “feelings” that generative AI processes or produces and the authentic emotions rooted in real human truth.

This session will explore a wide range of topics, including: uncovering genuine desires and contradictions rather than socially expected responses; identifying hidden sides of people and insights revealed through anonymous comments and reviews; the gap between AI personas of uncertain realism and real N=1 individuals; the potential of data and AI to approach honest feelings that are difficult to express in face-to-face conversation; how to create AI-driven creative work and AI experience design grounded in genuine human truth; and key points for enabling marketers and AI to generate synergy while avoiding the thoughtlessness that can come from overreliance on AI.

Professionals at the forefront of AI application will discuss “AI and human feelings” from multiple perspectives, incorporating frameworks such as the “Desire Mandala”.
