Joined Dentsu in 1998 after graduating from the Tokyo University with a Bachelor’s degree in laws. Kawakami was first assigned to the Marketing/ Promotion Department and Sales Department, dealing with food items, entertainment, automobiles, consumer products and IT corporations. Then he was engaged in developing new products and new projects, as well as designing customer-oriented communication from a neutral standpoint. He also promoted content marketing using music, images, animation and technologies.
Kawakami has presided over Dentsu Digital since 2019.
He also leads “People-Driven Marketing,” a data-driven marketing oriented to people.
Kawakami held prominent positions, including executive officer and head of Account Planning Division, and chief of Advanced Creative Center before he was appointed President in 2020.
