Ayataro Nakagawa
Peroli Inc.
CEO

Ayataro Nakagawa is the founder and CEO of a tech startup Peroli, the operator of MERY, Japan's most popular online media focused on women's fashion and beauty. Launched in 2013, MERY currently boasts over 20 million users writing or reading about the latest trends and useful tips every month through its mobile app and website. Nakagawa first founded Peroli in 2012 as a student entrepreneur at Waseda University and created MERY with a vision to redefine business model of media with the curation platform for user-generated content. Under his leadership, Peroli raised 300 million yen (~=$2.5 million) shortly after the launch of MERY. Nakagawa continued to grow the business after he dropped out of college. In 2015, Peroli was acquired by one of Japan’s largest publicly traded tech company DeNA. Nakagawa is also active as an investor at Tokyo Founders Fund, a seed fund established by entrepreneurs.
